The May 05, 2012 farm swap was a great day to celebrate Community Agriculture with the public,....... It just keeps getting better !
We had great weather and had 71 sellers at the peak of the day and huge crowds of families coming out to support community agriculture.
The Livestock Free Zone continues to do very well with Hydro and organic produce/veggies, catfish, tilapia, baked goods, sauces.
We heard Saturday from our farm raised tilapia seller that he will soon have farm raised sturgeon steaks raised on the same farm just 5 miles from Barberville.
Our special email list only drawing was won by Mr. Mark Autorino
When he heard his ticket number called, he called out: "Barberville Family Farm Swap & Market, this is what agriculture is all about!, Mr. Mark Autorino went home with a $25.00 Sunoco Fuel Card that was donated by Sunoco on North Woodland Blvd. in DeLand, Florida. ....... It pays to be on our email list !
Folks,....a lot of people call or ask us how we keep the farm market/swap free for everybody?
My son Taylor & myself take a lot of pride in this unique farmers market/ swap and the commitment we made three years ago to have a community sponsored farm swap/market in our area.
We operate on donations that are received on farm swap day under the big American Flag as well as sponsorship on the farm swap web site, these funds are used toward the property rental, port o john rental, required liability insurance, web site hosting and advertising.
We would like to thank Country Living Farm in DeLeon Springs for coming on board this week as our newest sponsor on our web site, If you know someone that likes this community sponsored agriculture farm market, please tell them about the farm markets' web site, or have them contact me at 386-469-9409, I will be happy to tell them how we can help their business and they can support the farm swap/market at the same time.
Finally, A big thank you to Mike, of Mikes Home Grown our Hydro farmer who made the video that we have posted on our web site of the farm market, this is a great way to let people who want to visit the farm market and to see what it is all about ahead of time, Thanks Mike !
